The three big adventures in my life

A bit more than 15 years ago I set off from my home in Bautzen to study Biotechnology and became a researcher with a passion for fungi (yes you have read that right). Fresh from academia and with a PhD in my pocket I started a job near Cambridge UK to develop a carrier in the Biotech Industry. Never would I have though that this path would give me insight into Marketing or that I would found a company in my mid-thirties.

Academia

I spend 10 years in academia, from doing my bachelor’s in biotechnology, to my Masters in Technical Microbiology to my PhD in Microbiology which I received in 2016.

Industry

At the end of 2016 I started at a Biotech company located near Cambridge UK where I went from being a Application Specialist to becoming a Content Manager in 4 years.

Start-up

2020 brough changes in many ways. The biggest one for me being moving back to the motherland and starting my own firm Alva Genomics.

Alva Genomics, helps scientist in industry and academia analyse their data through bioinformatic consulting and software. Recently in the field of biology, scientists are facing an unpresented increase in sequencing data. Without the necessary statistical and programming knowledge this forms a major bottle neck in research and development. Alva Genomics specialises in providing support and software solutions for enabling researchers to make the most of their data in the rapidly growing field of Next Generation Sequencing.
